McCormick Ranch

In the mid 1940′s Anne and Fowler McCormick came from the east coast to Arizona in search of a summer home.  They found, fell in love with, and purchased the 160 acre Chaney Ranch.  The McCormick’s brought Angus cattle and Arabian horses to Scottsdale.  In the 1970′s after Anne passed away most of the land was sold to Kaiser – Aetna. And this is where the development of McCormick Ranch began.  McCormick Ranch is one of Scottsdale’s best and largest master planned residential community.

Today McCormick Ranch encompasses 3,116 acres made up of 60 subdivisions, and home to 20,000 residents.  The community offers 7 lakes, 25 miles of paths, tennis courts, and two championship golf courses.

The McCormick Ranch Golf Club is comprised of two courses both designed by Desmond Muirhead.  The Palm course has 10 water holes, and numerous beautiful palm trees.  The Pine course is home many majestic pine trees, and is a bit more narrow  than the palm.  The club offers some of the best practice facilities in the country.  The putting green is one of the largest in the southwest. The Advantage Golf School is located on site offering one on one training with the pros.

The McCormick Ranch area offers easy access to many restaurants, shops, and amenities:

The Chart House, Grassroots, Village Tavern, Oliver Smith Jeweler, The Scottsdale Jean Company, The Village at Gainey Ranch, LA Fitness, Scottsdale Racquet Club, just to name a few. A favorite to children and adults alike is The McCormick Stillman Railroad Park, complete with  train, train museum, carousel, numerous play grounds, and party facilities.  During the holidays it boasts and incredible light display. In the summer months it is host to an amazing concert series on Sunday nights.
